The importance of the consumer


The 500 ​​million consumers residing in the European Union are interested in quality, choice and value of the products . 
They expect to receive accurate information about what they are buying and want to be sure that their consumer rights are protected. What they might not know is that their preferences can also drive innovation , efficiency and economic growth .
The policy of the EU consumers has four main objectives:
  •  Protect consumers from the risks and threats to those who can not tackle as individuals;
  •  Empower them to choose , based on clear, accurate and consistent information ;
  •  Protect their rights and give them a quick and effective ways of solving disputes with traders .
  •  Adapt the rights of consumers to the economic and social changes , paying special attention to food markets , energy, financial services , transport and information technology and communication
